Grand Hotel et De Milan introduction
The Grand Hotel et de Milan is situated right in the center of the city, opposite Via Montenapoleone and just a short walk away from the Teatro alla Scala, the Duomo and Milan's fashion district. The hotel first opened in 1863, and in no time at all was to become the habitual Milanese abode of artists, politicians and intellectuals of world wide fame.
Actually the Grand Hotel et de Milan is member of The Leading Hotels of the World. A number of the hotel's rooms and suites are dedicated to the illustrious guests who chose the Grand Hotel et de Milan as their residence. The royal suite has been dedicated to Giuseppe Verdi who resided, for 27 years, in Suite 105 where, legend has it, he wrote parts of "Othello" and "Falstaff". As the maestro lay dying in 1901, Verdi devotees laid straw down on the surrounding streets to prevent carriages from disturbing the great composer's last hours. Other celebrity guests of the past include Enrico Caruso and Rudolf Nureyev.
Fabulous traditional Italian cuisine is served at the Grand Hotel et de Milan's "Caruso" and "Don Carlos" restaurants. Beautifully presented dishes are prepared by Chef Angelo Gangemi and his talented brigade. A superb wine list offers guest the opportunity to taste a selection of the very finest Italian and international vintages.
The Hotel has 3 sumptuous function rooms. Sala Puccini, Sala Giordano e Sala Verdi, all featuring beautiful pieces of antique furniture and equipped with the latest in modern technology.
