Count Gian Pietro Porro Pirelli, the adventurous 18th-century explorer, inspired the hotel's extraordinary antique Oriental décor; its rooms adorned with Chinese furnishings, Thai woodcarvings and Balinese marquetry all set against the rich Baroque backdrop of the hotel.
